A Saint Of The Modern World We are glad to publish this brochure on the biography of Vinoba, a Saint of the Modern World. His life began in 1895 as an ordinary man but there was some thing new in his childhood that distinguished him from other children. He was a genius. He used to solve mathematical questions of senior grades and thus help his elders. He was a very talented student and very fond of reading.
The devotional trend of his mother and grand-father led him to celibacy. At the tender age of 10 he had taken the vow of Brahmacharya, He wanted to serve his country. His father’s scientific outlook created in him an urge to learn newer and newer things in life, In 1913 he passed his Matric. His collegiate life came to an end when the was on the train to Bombay to appear in the Intermediate examination. He got down at Surat and took the train to Kashi to learn Brahma-Sutra and other spiritual treatises.
At Varanasi, along with spiritual learning he came in contact with the revolutionaries as he had two yearning spirituality and revolution. But he did not like the secret dealings of revolutionaries. He was much impressed by the historical speech of Gandhi ji of sixth February 1916 in B. H. U. He wrote to him a lenthy letter. Gandhi ji replied that the matter requires face to face talking and so it would be better to meet him personally.
