What Is Maya? Is this life or is it my dream? Am I awake or asleep? The perennial question remains. Which is the truth – the king of my dreams, or the piteous beggar of the waking hours? It is a question that has puzzled men since creation. And will no doubt continue to do so in the future. Does it really have an answer? Is time, this universe, the people around us simply a figment of our own imagination? Do we create our world, our family in our minds alone? Sister Devamata tries to answer these questions when she asks ‘What is Maya?’

‘Maya’ in itself has no one single word to describe it and the words we tend to use do not fully explain the concept as put forward in the Vedas. It is a concept which has to be experienced to be understood. The author believes that it is a pure and clear heart which may truly understand the depth and truth in this concept.
